gallery of naive art - Kovacica

We took John and Loletuth to this gallery in Kovacica - we went last year and really enjoyed the paintings. Apparently this area has provide some talented artists.  The style of painting is called naive because of its child-like qualities.

Women's Conference in Belgrade

400 + "Active Christian Women" attend the 14th annual interdenominational conference in Belgrade

Women from all over Serbia and a few guests from South Africa, England and the USA(guess who?) met together for fellowship, joyous singing of praises to God, a lesson on having an active Christian lifestyle, and wonderful testimonies of God's activity in women's lives.

   A day of encouragement.

Although I could not understand the words to the songs, many of the tunes were familiar.  The Holy Spirit was present, blessing all. True worship took place overcoming language barriers.

WISH YOU COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!

the beauty of a rose shouts Praise to God our Creator

In the book of Job chapters 38 -41 we read questions God asked of Job...."Where were you when I made the earth's foundation?", "Have you ever ordered the morning to begin?", "What is the path to light's home, and where does darkness live?"     Good questions to ask ourselves when we get that 'know it' all attitude!

Marty has been able to capture the beauty of some of the roses here.  Because of the genetics of the rose many varieties now are now available BUT who of us can make a rose from nothing?

That slow progress stage...

Andre Sjanta(lower center) is still in the hospital, maybe transfered to
Belgrade today.  Please continue your prayers for his recovery

Every wall inside and out needs to be plastered(stucco/plaster combination) and is a multi-layer process. A skilled person is required to give a good looking finished job.

Catching up some more...

The church at Vrbas was built by German Methodists who left the country after WWII. It is the largest UMC building in Serbia

L-R: Vladimir, pastor of Vrbas UMC;  Maria, pastor of Pivnice UMC;  Johanna, Vladimir's wife and maker of the brownies;  Igor, member of Vrbas UMC;   John, pastor of  Wesley UMC, Ludlow, KY;  Loletuth, pastor of Trinity UMC, Covington, KY

This one's for you, Charlene Godby
The newly-weds -- Pastor Vladimir and Johanna

The UM church at Novi Sad at one time owned this entire apartment building/complex but half of it was seized and never returned by the communists.  The sanctuary, offices and parsonage are in this building.
